CORONAVIRUS, VACCINE UPDATE FROM GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

A total of 16,915 new cases of coronavirus and 71 more virus-related deaths were reported across Georgia on Monday by the state’s Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 1,036,304 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide since the beginning of the pandemic. The state’s death toll now stands at 19,243. The number of confirmed cases totaled 11,336 in Floyd County, which has additionally had a total of 204 fatalities. Fulton County has had the most confirmed cases in the state with 95,048 and the most deaths with 1,403.

As of the most recent update to the vaccine dashboard on Monday, 9,429,457 vaccines have been administered across the state; 50 percent of all Georgians have received at least a dose of the vaccine, while 42 percent have been fully vaccinated. In Floyd County, 39 percent of residents have received at least a dose, while 35 percent are now fully vaccinated.
