GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF LABOR: UNEMPLOYMENT RATE FALLS TO AN ALL-TIME LOW IN ROME, NWGA FOR JULY

The Georgia Department of Labor has reported that the unemployment rate in Rome declined one and two-tenths percentage points from June to reach three percent in July, an all-time low for the metropolitan statistical area. That rate was 7.4 percent a year ago.

Rome ended July with 40,600 jobs, a decrease of 100 from June but an uptick of 1,200 in comparison to last year.

First-time claims for unemployment insurance were down in this MSA by 33 percent over the month and by about 88 percent over the year.

Northwest Georgia’s unemployment rate was down by one and one-tenth of a percentage point from June to arrive at 2.7 percent in July. That rate stood at 6.6 percent a year ago.

Initial unemployment claims around the region decreased by 33 percent over the month and by about 90 percent over the year.
