ATLANTA BRAVES BLANK SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS IN SERIES FINALE AT TRUIST PARK, TAKE WEEKEND SET 2-1

The Atlanta Braves posted a 9-0 shut-out win over the San Francisco Giants on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game series at Truist Park. That allowed the National League East-leading Braves take two of three from the NL West-leading Giants over the weekend.

Atlanta was powered by three home runs. The first of those was a solo shot from Jorge Soler during the bottom of the fourth inning. Austin Riley added a two-run homer in that same inning.

Ozzie Albies added an exclamation point with a solo shot in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Ian Anderson picked up the win for Atlanta in his return from the injured list after surrendering four hits, walking two, and striking out none over five and two-third scoreless innings. Anthony DeSclafani was charged with the loss for San Francisco.

The Braves improved to 70-59 on the 2021 season and now hold a four and a half game lead in the NL East over the Philadelphia Phillies. The Giants still have the MLB’s best record at 84-46 with a two and a half game lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West. The Braves will be out in Los Angeles to open up a three-game series against the defending World Series champion Dodgers tonight. The first pitch is set for 10:10 pm Eastern. That game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 8:55 pm.
