ATLANTA BRAVES FALL IN LOS ANGELES TO DODGERS

The Atlanta Braves were edged by the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 on Tuesday night in the middle outing of a three-game set out in Los Angeles, California. It allowed the defending World Series champion Dodgers to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

The Braves struck first on a solo home run from Joc Pederson off his former team in the top of the third inning. Travis d’Arnaud made it 2-0 with an RBI double in the top of the fourth.

But the Dodgers struck back with a solo home run from Mookie Betts in the bottom of that inning. They tied it up on a sac fly by Chris Taylor during the bottom of the seventh and took the lead on an RBI double from Corey Seager that scored Betts in the eighth.

Reliever Tyler Matzek was charged with the loss for Atlanta. Starter Charlie Morton gave up just one run and three hits, walked two, and struck out eight in six innings. Blake Treinen was credited with the win in relief, and Kenley Jansen got the save for LA.

And, unfortunately, Ozzie Albies left the game early after he took a foul ball to the knee cap in the fifth. His x-rays were negative.

The Braves fell to 70-61 on the ’21 season and now lead the National League East by two and a half games over the Philadelphia Phillies. The Dodgers are 84-49 and a half a game behind the San Francisco Giants in the NL West. The teams will meet in their series finale tonight at 10:10 pm Eastern. That game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 8:55 pm.
