CORONAVIRUS, VACCINE UPDATE; ROME CITY/FLOYD COUNTY COMMISSIONS TO HOLD JOINT MEETING ON COVID-19 TODAY

A total of 6,771 new cases of coronavirus and 126 more virus-related deaths were reported in Georgia on Wednesday by this state’s Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 1,097,709 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide since the beginning of this pandemic. The state’s death toll now stands at 19,806. The number of confirmed cases totaled 12,623 in Floyd County, which has additionally had a total of 206 fatalities. Fulton County has had the most confirmed cases in the state with 98,757 and the most deaths with 1,414.

As of the most recent update to the vaccine dashboard Wednesday, 9,740,465 vaccines have been administered across the state; 51 percent of all Georgians have received at least a dose of the vaccine, while 44 percent have been fully vaccinated.
