CORONAVIRUS, VACCINE UPDATE FROM GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

A total of 5,203 new cases of coronavirus and 41 more virus-related fatalities were reported in Georgia on Wednesday by this state’s Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 1,140,068 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide since the beginning of this pandemic. The state’s death toll now stands at 20,298. The number of confirmed cases totaled 13,453 in Floyd County, which has additionally had a total of 218 fatalities. Fulton County has had the most confirmed cases in the state with 101,622 and the most deaths with 1,428.

As of the most recent update to the vaccine dashboard Wednesday, 9,955,554 vaccines have been administered across the state; 52 percent of all Georgians have received at least a dose of the vaccine, while 45 percent have been fully vaccinated. Here in Floyd County, 42 percent of residents have had at least a dose, while 36 percent are now fully vaccinated.
