AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES DIPPED SLIGHTLY OVER THE PAST WEEK

Georgia’s gas prices dropped slightly over the past week, according to AAA, The Auto Club Group. Motorists pay an average price of $2.97 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline; that’s one cent less than a week ago, one cent more than last month, and 95 cents more than this same time last year.

It now costs $44.55 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that’s $7.65 more than what motorists paid in January 2020, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.46 per gallon.

Rome is among the least expensive metro markets in Georgia with an average of $2.89.

Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA, indicates, “Georgians may notice pump prices falling slowly as we approach the fall season. Tropical storm Ida appears to have had minimal impact on Georgia gas prices; however, there is a slight possibility gas prices could fluctuate over the next few weeks.”

Sunday’s national average of $3.17 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is one cent less than last week and last month, but 98 cents more than this time last year.
