The Atlanta Braves defeated the Miami Marlins 5-3 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game National League East set at Truist Park; it allowed the division-leading Braves to take the series 2-1.
Atlanta notched a total of three home runs, including a tie-breaking solo shot by Ozzie Albies in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Freddie Freeman also had a solo home run during that inning; his 30th homer of the season happened on his 32nd birthday. Again, here is Ben Ingram with that call.
Eddie Rosario contributed a two-run homer during the bottom of the fourth inning.
Jacob Webb was credited with the win in relief for Atlanta, while Will Smith nabbed his 32nd save of the season. Starting pitcher Max Fried gave up three runs and four hits, walked one, and struck out seven in six innings. Anthony Bass took the loss for Miami.
Atlanta improved to 76-66 and currently hold a four and a half game lead in the NL East over the Philadelphia Phillies (who lost Sunday). Miami is next to last in the division at 60-83.
The Braves have today off and will return to action at Truist Park on Tuesday night against the Colorado Rockies. First pitch is set for 7:20 pm. The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 6:05 pm.
