ROME AND FLOYD COUNTY MARKS 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF 9/11

Rome and Floyd County residents came together on Saturday morning to mark the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the US with a Commemoration Ceremony at the Firefighters Memorial Plaza in downtown Rome.

Brad Roberson, Division Chief of the Rome-Floyd County Fire Department, recalls the chaos of that tragic day two decades ago. He also remembers the patriotism and appreciation of first responders that followed.

Floyd County Sheriff Dave Roberson (Brad’s brother) misses the patriotism that immediately followed 9/11.

Brad adds that, like so many Americans, he and his brother will never forget that fateful day.

Saturday’s ceremony included a timetable of 9/11 events, patriotic music, an honor guard presentation, and the laying of a memorial wreath.
