HOSPITALITY HOUSE FOR WOMEN, INC. IS GEARING UP FOR THE OBSERVANCE OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH IN OCTOBER

October is drawing ever nearer, and the Hospitality House for Women, Inc. is preparing for its observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Lynn Rousseau, Executive Director, attests that the slate of activities for next month includes a Candlelight Vigil on Thursday, October 21st and the Walk A Mile In Her Shoes event on Friday, October 22nd. Social distancing and mask usage are encouraged at both events, which will be held outdoors.

Walk A Mile is the signature DVAM event that features men traipsing around downtown Rome in high heels to raise awareness and support for the victims of domestic violence. A new feature has been added to the walk for this year. Via the Grand Marshall Challenge, contestants are vying, through fundraising efforts, to lead the Walk aboard the Roman Chariot. Their list of contestants features Dave Roberson, Luke Martin, Lee Niedrach, Stephanie Nichols, and Josh Kerce, asserts Rousseau, who adds that they are all being highlighted on social media. A winner will be announced on the day of the walk.

Vote for your favorite Grand Marshall Challenge contestant and register for the ’21 walk at www.hospitalityhouseforwomen.org. Pre-registration prior to October 8th guarantees a free t-shirt and a gift bag.

The Hospitality House for Women, Inc. plans to go virtual with their Annual Public Meeting set for Monday, October 25th.
