ATLANTA BRAVES FALL IN EXTRAS TO COLORADO ROCKIES ON A RAINY NIGHT AT TRUIST PARK

The Atlanta Braves were defeated by the Colorado Rockies 3-2 in 10 innings on Wednesday night in the middle outing of a three-game set at a rainy Truist Park, which allowed the Rockies to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

The Braves jumped on board first with an RBI single by Eddie Rosario in the bottom of the second inning. But the Rockies tied the game up on a sacrifice bunt from Antonio Senzatela and surged ahead on a bases-loaded walk from Charlie Blackmon in the top of the fifth. The game was once again tied on a solo home run by Rosario in the bottom of that inning.

But an RBI single by Raimel Tapia off AJ Minter during the top of the tenth turned out to be the game winner for the Rockies. The Braves had two on in the bottom of that inning, but Dansby Swanson flew out to end the ballgame. Here’s Ben Ingram with the final call.

Minter took the loss for Atlanta, whose starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa gave up two runs and four hits, walked two, and struck out eight in four and two-third innings. Carlos Estevez got the win in relief, while Robert Stephenson picked up the save for Colorado.

The Braves fell to 76-68 on the season; their lead in the National League East has dropped to three and a half games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies (who beat the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night). They will conclude their series against the Rockies (and a nine-game homestand) today. The first pitch is set for 12:20 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; air time is 11:05 am.
