CORONAVIRUS, VACCINE UPDATE FROM GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

A total of 4,227 new cases of coronavirus and 166 more virus-related deaths were reported in Georgia on Wednesday by the state’s Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 1,173,584 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide since the beginning of this pandemic. The state’s death toll now stands at 20,971. The number of confirmed cases totaled 14,187 in Floyd County, which has additionally had a total of 236 fatalities. Fulton County has had the most confirmed cases in the state with 103,992 and the most deaths with 1,457.

As of the most recent update to the DPH’s vaccine dashboard on Wednesday, 10,165,058 vaccines have been administered across this state; 53 percent of Georgians have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 46 percent have been fully vaccinated. In Floyd County, 43 percent of the residents have had at least a dose, while 37 percent are now fully vaccinated.
