ATLANTA BRAVES OPEN SERIES IN ARIZONA WITH A WIN OVER THE DIAMONDBACKS

The Atlanta Braves beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 11-4 on Monday night in the first outing of a four game set at Chase Field in Phoenix, AZ, marking the second straight win for the National League East-leading Braves.

Atlanta cruised ahead of Arizona with seven runs during the top of the fifth inning, including a two-run homer by Adam Duvall; it was his 37th home run of this year.

A night after hitting for the cycle, Eddie Rosario hit a solo shot in the ninth.

Austin Riley also contributed three doubles and drove in a trio of runs for the Braves.

Jacob Webb got the win in relief for Atlanta, whose starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa gave up three runs and five hits, walked two, and struck out two in four innings of work. Humberto Mejia took the loss for Arizona.

The Braves improved to 78-70 on the 2021 season and increased their lead in the National League East by three games over the Philadelphia Phillies (who lost to the Baltimore Orioles on Monday evening). They will face the D’backs again tonight at 9:40 pm Eastern in Arizona. The outing will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 8:25 pm.
