ROME CITY COMMISSION APPROVES SPLOST FUNDS TOWARDS PURCHASE OF FORMER SITE OF NWGA REGIONAL HOSPITAL

Rome City Commissioners voted on Monday night to invest $1.125 million in SPLOST funds towards purchasing the former property of the Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital. This vote passed by 7-1, with Mark Cochran as the only Commissioner that voted ‘no’.

Mayor Craig McDaniel expects that a similar measure will be passed by the Floyd County Commission during their regular meeting this evening.

The State of Georgia recently accepted the offer of $2.25 million from the Rome-Floyd County Development Authority to purchase the former hospital site for the purposes of ecomonic development.

The public is invited to attend today’s County Commission meeting, slated to take place at 6 pm in the Administration Building located on East 4th Avenue; it will be preceded by a caucus at 4 pm.
