The Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 7-2 on Wednesday night in the middle outing of a three game National League East series at Truist Park. Atlanta’s magic number to clinch the division now stands at one.

Austin Riley led the charge offensively with three RBIs to include a two-run double in the Braves’ four-run seventh inning.

Max Fried emerged as the winning pitcher after giving up two runs (only one earned) and four hits, walking none, and striking out six over seven innings. Aaron Nola was charged with the loss.

The Braves improved to 85-72 on the 2021 season and increased their lead in the NL East to four and a half games over the Phillies. Those teams will meet in their series finale this evening at 7:20 pm. That game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 6:05 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.
