ROME INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL TO KICK OFF FIDDLIN’ FEST WITH CONCERT AND FILM ‘SWEET DREAMS DO COME TRUE’

(Rome International Film Festival media release):

The Rome International Film Festival will kick off Fiddlin’ Fest this year with an intimate concert by the “quintessential troubadour” himself, Nashville veteran, Verlon Thompson. The concert will be coupled with a screening of his musical memoir “Sweet Dreams Do Come True.” We’re sure he’ll even sit a spell with us in downtown Rome!

The event will be held at the Rome City Auditorium, Friday, October 8, at 7:00 p.m.

The concert and film screening will be followed by an exclusive Q&A with Thompson and “Sweet Dreams” director, Brent Simonds.

Sponsors of the event include the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), Courtyard by Marriott, and PAM Studios, the first Latina-owned production studio in Georgia.

Throughout the 93 minute film, viewers meet Thompson’s family, friends, and musical peers including Guy Clark, Sam Bush, Shawn Camp, and Suzy Bogguss, just to name a few.

Thompson’s ballads will ring in downtown Rome’s annual Fiddlin’ Fest with the sounds of Folk and Americana music. With more than 30 years of storytelling and guitar picking under his belt, Thompson has performed all over Georgia, from Tybee Island to Ringgold.
