AAA: GEORGIA PUMP PRICES JUMP BY EIGHT CENTS

Georgia’s gas prices have increased alongside rising crude oil, reports AAA, The Auto Club Group. Motorists statewide currently pay an average of $3.06 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline; that’s eight cents more than last week and last month. At this time last year, Georgians paid $1.07 less per gallon at the pump.

It now costs $45.90 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that’s $9.00 more than what motorists paid in January of 2020, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.46 per gallon.

Montrae Waiters, spokesperson for AAA, indicates, “Georgia motorists saw a jump at the pump this weekend. The probable cause for the increase appears to be an uptick in demand and the high price of crude oil, which is stubbornly staying above $70 per barrel. High crude prices will likely contribute to gas prices remaining elevated this season.”

Sunday’s national average of $3.26 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is seven cents more than last week, nine cents more than last month, and $1.08 more than this time last year.
