CORONAVIRUS, VACCINE UPDATE FROM GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH, THE FLOYD COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT IS OPEN ON COLUMBUS DAY

According to the latest update from the Georgia Department of Public Health this past Friday afternoon, a total of 1,240,641 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported across the state since the beginning of this pandemic. The state’s death toll stands at 23,342. There have been 15,119 confirmed cases in Floyd County, which has also had 278 fatalities. Fulton County has reported the most confirmed cases in this state with 109,379 and the most deaths with 1,554.

As of the most recent update to the DPH’s vaccine dashboard this past Friday, 10,735,873 vaccines have been administered across Georgia; 55 percent of all residents have received at least a dose of the vaccine, and 48 percent are now fully vaccinated. In Floyd County, 45 percent have had at least one dose, and 41 percent are now fully vaccinated.

The Floyd County Health Department will be open today – Columbus Day – from 9 am to noon to provide COVID-19 and flu shots. No appointments are needed, according to the Georgia DPH’s Northwest Health District.
