LUNAR BIKE RIDE TO HIGHLIGHT THIS WEEKEND’S LOCAL SLATE OF EVENTS

October has been busy in Rome and Floyd County, and we are only halfway through the month.

This weekend’s slate of events is highlighted by the Lunar Bike Ride that will be hosted by TRED of Rome/Floyd County with support of the Floyd County Police Department. That will take place this evening from 5 pm until 8:30 pm on the GE Trails at Garrard Park, located at 1935 Redmond Circle. There will be a costume contest and a bike rodeo at this event, indicates Kristi Kent, the Director of Communications for the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism. Cost to participate is $5 with proceeds to benefit TRED.

Kent adds that the GE Trails are great for mountain biking, as well as hiking. This is in large part due to the hard work of TRED.

The Lunar Bike Ride will also feature music and food trucks. Youth ages 16 and under will be required to wear helmets.

Find a complete listing of local events online at www.romegeorgia.org. Kent attests that the Office of Tourism is open to submissions from the public to be included in the events calendar.

The Chiaha Harvest Fair, Schnauzer Fest, and the Cave Spring Ghost Tours are among the activities planned for next weekend. Halloween weekend will be highlighted by the Wings Over North Georgia hybrid drive-in air show.
