AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES ROSE AGAIN LAST WEEK

Georgia’s gas prices increased over the past week alongside rising crude oil, according to AAA, The Auto Club Group. Motorists statewide now pay the average price of $3.15 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline. That is nine cents more than a week ago, 18 cents more than last month, and $1.15 more than this time last year.

It now costs $47.25 to fill up a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that’s $10.35 more than what motorists paid in January of 2020, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.46 per gallon.

Montrae Waiters, a spokeswoman for AAA, indicates, “The key driver for the rise of gas prices is crude oil, which typically accounts for between 50 and 60 percent of the price at the pump. Unfortunately, it’s still too early to tell when Georgians will see some type of relief regarding gas prices this season.”

Sunday’s national average of $3.19 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is seven cents less than last week, the same as last month, and $1.02 more than at the same time last year.
