Local nonprofit organization Brighter Birthdays is at or near the milestone of 10,000 birthday celebrations with delivery of backpacks to schools in the area for distribution among under-resourced children. Cristin Warden, its founder, indicates that even though Brighter Birthdays is unable to celebrate birthdays in person at this time, it can at least ensure that children have everything they need for their celebrations.
These drawstring backpacks are filled with birthday party supplies, toiletries, school supplies, and gifts. Warden asserts that they are distributed through a partnership with local schools and other organizations like the Boys and Girls Club.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the packing of backpacks in November, says Warden, who adds that Brighter Birthdays’ need of the month is travel-sized toothpaste. For information on how to get involved, or to donate to the organization, visit www.brighterbirthdays.org.
