AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES CONTINUE TO RISE

Georgia’s gas prices continue to increase. According to AAA, The Auto Club Group, motorists statewide now pay the average price of $3.24 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline. That is nine cents more than a week ago, 25 cents more than last month, and $1.26 more than this time last year.

It now costs $48.60 to fill up a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that is $11.70 more than what motorists paid in January of 2020, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.46 per gallon.

Montrae Waiters, AAA spokeswoman, states, “Crude oil continues to remain elevated, and pump prices are following suit because crude oil accounts for more than half the price of a gallon of gas. Regrettably, we can’t predict when Georgians will see relief at the pump.”

Sunday’s national average of $3.38 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is seven cents more than a week ago, 20 cents more than last month, and $1.22 more than this same time last year.
