FLOYD COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ANTICIPATED TO DISCUSS AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT FOR PURCHASE OF FORMER NORTHWEST GEORGIA REGIONAL HOSPITAL PROPERTY

The Floyd County Board of Commissioners is anticipated this evening to consider an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Rome and Rome-Floyd County Development Authority for purchase of the former Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital property from the State of Georgia.

Wright Bagby, Chairman, says that the purchase will be funded by SPLOST money earmarked for economic development. The property has been vacant for more than a decade.

Local leaders are thankful that the state was finally willing to accept an offer for the property, attests Bagby.

This agreement has already been approved by the City of Rome’s Board of Commissioners.

Also on tonight’s agenda – a resolution to expand the Floyd County Board of Elections and Registration from three to five members.

The Floyd County Commission will meet over at the county’s Administration Building on East 4th Avenue in downtown Rome. Caucus will be held at 4 pm in the Caucus Room (Suite 204); that will be followed by the meeting at 6 pm in the Community Room (Suite 206).
