The 2021 Thanksgiving Love Feast will take place at the Rome Civic Center on Thursday, November 25th. Volunteers and donations are currently sought for the feast, which will be served from 11 am to 2 pm or until food runs out. Dine-in service will resume this year, according to event organizer Reverend Terrell Shields.
The event will also feature a celebration of what would have been the 100th birthday of the late Reverend Warren Jones, who passed away in May. Jan Ferguson, his daughter, says that the Love Feast was a priority to her father every year on Thanksgiving Day since the late ’80s.
Ferguson hopes that her father’s friends and family will step up and support the Love Feast in order to ensure a financial cushion for the event in the years to come.
There will be cupcakes at the Love Feast as part of the birthday celebration, adds Ferguson.
Reverend Shields says that he appreciates the support of Ferguson, Reverend Jones, and their family of the annual event.
Donations to the Thanksgiving Love Feast may be made via mail by sending a check to P.O. Box 161, Rome, Georgia 30161 or by using the Cash App for $Lovefeast1987. They are additionally accepted at Ford, Gittings, and Kane Jewelers, 312 Broad Street. Those who would like to volunteer at this year’s Feast should call Reverend Shields at (706) 234-2091.
