VETERANS DAY CEREMONY SET FOR TODAY AT MYRTLE HILL

Today is Veterans Day, a day to honor those who have served in our nation’s Armed Forces. The American Legion Post Five will host their Veterans Day Program today at 11 am at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in downtown Rome. It will be held at the gravesite of Charles Graves, “The Known Soldier”. Bill King, a veteran of the US Air Force and an active member of the Exchange Club of Rome’s Americanism Committee, will be in attendance with the committee’s replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The real Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery was dedicated on this day in 1921.
