CONTRIBUTIONS SOUGHT FOR 33RD ANNUAL THANKSGIVING LOVE FEAST

The 33rd annual Thanksgiving Love Feast is scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, this Thursday, November 25th at the Rome Civic Center from 11 am to 2 pm (or until food runs out).

This traditional Thanksgiving dinner will be provided to anyone who may not be able to prepare their own meal or may otherwise have to spend the holiday alone. According to Reverend Terrell Shields, Chairperson of the Concerned Citizens of Rome and Floyd County, the needs have grown over recent years due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Shut-ins are urged by Reverend Shields to call (706) 234-2091 to arrange for delivery of meals. And financial contributions are sought towards this year’s Love Feast.

Donations to the Thanksgiving Love Feast may be made via mail by sending a check to P.O. Box 161, Rome, Georgia 30161 or by using the Cash App for $Lovefeast1987.

Donations of coats and jackets are also requested for distribution to those in need at the Love Feast. They may be taken to the Civic Center this evening between 6 pm and 8 pm. Cakes, pies, and other desserts will also be accepted during that time.

There will be cupcakes at this year’s Love Feast in honor of what would have been the 100th birthday of the late Reverend Warren Jones, who passed away back in May. Jan Ferguson, Jones’ daughter, states that the Love Feast was a priority to her father every year on Thanksgiving Day since the late ’80s.
