Local journalist Doug Walker has been selected as the Grand Marshall for the ’21 Rome Christmas Parade. The announcement was officially made during a special breakfast on Tuesday morning at the Coosa Country Club.
Walker, native of Arlington, Virginia and graduate of Auburn University, now serves as the City of Rome’s Public Communication Officer. His resume also includes stints with the Rome News-Tribune and local radio.
Janet Byington, Christmas parade co-chair, refers to Walker as ‘one of Rome’s heroes’ that gives back to his community.
The 2021 Rome Christmas Parade is slated for the evening of next Tuesday, November 30th on Broad Street with a rain date of Thursday, December 2nd. This year’s theme is ‘It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas’. For more details, visit www.romechristmasparade.com.
