VOLUNTEERS RELISH THE OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE AT THE 33RD ANNUAL THANKSGIVING LOVE FEAST

The 33rd annual Thanksgiving Love Feast was held on Thursday at the Rome Civic Center. The dinner was served by the Concerned Citizens of Rome and Floyd County to anyone in need of a hearty meal on Thanksgiving Day.

Reverend Terrell Shields, event chairman, says that it felt good to once again see volunteers come together to do something positive for the community.

Shields’ daughter Terrica, the inspiration for the original Love Feast back in the late 1980s, attests that there is no better way to spend Thanksgiving than serving others.

Volunteers gathered in prayer led by Reverend Shields and song led by Sylvia Shields prior to serving the meal. Among those – Jan Ferguson. She served in honor of the Reverend Warren Jones, her late father, who would have been 100 years old today. The Thanksgiving Love Feast was a priority to him from its earliest days; Ferguson believes he would have wanted her to carry on that tradition.

Financial contributions may still be made to the Thanksgiving Love Feast by sending a check to P.O. Box 161, Rome, Georgia 30161 or by using the Cash App for $Lovefeast1987.
