FULL SLATE OF HOLIDAY EVENTS ON TAP FOR THIS WEEKEND IN FLOYD COUNTY

Plenty of holiday cheer is in store for locals and visitors to Rome and Floyd County this weekend.

The 18th annual Small Town Christmas in the Country is slated for Saturday from 9 am until 4 pm and Sunday from noon until 4 pm at Rolater Park down in Cave Spring. Admission is free.

A total of 175 arts and crafts vendors will be stationed at the park and inside Hearn Academy, states organizer Susan Childers. There will additionally be plenty of food, live entertainment, and activities for the children. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be strolling around the park, as will the Grinch. Those in attendance are encouraged to register for the door prizes to be given away.

Childers muses that the event has grown significantly throughout the years; it has become a Cave Spring holiday tradition.

Cave Spring’s Christmas Parade is set for Saturday evening at approximately 6 pm.

Christmas in Lindale ’21 is on tap for this Saturday. It will feature a parade, a festival, and a star lighting ceremony.

Festivities will start with the parade at 2:30 pm, for which line-up be at 2 pm at Pepperell Primary School, attests Tim Reynolds, President of Restoration Lindale, Inc., who adds that parade participants are urged to bring a toy for a toy drive that will be held for kids in Lindale who may not otherwise receive a Christmas gift this year.

The festival will take place from 2 pm to 6 pm along South 1st Street and will feature more than 50 arts and crafts vendors. The star lighting ceremony will be held at 5 pm.

Reynolds looks forward to a celebration of the 90th year of the Star Between the Stacks at the old Lindale Mill.

Those events in Cave Spring and Lindale will give locals the opportunity to shop for some locally-crafted Christmas gifts, as will the 10th annual Winter Art Market set for Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm both days at the Rome Civic Center. Admission and parking are free. For a complete listing of vendors for this year, visit the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism website at www.romegeorgia.org.
