AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES DROPPED SLIGHTLY DURING THE PAST WEEK

Georgia’s gas prices decreased during the past week, according to AAA, The Auto Club Group. Motorists statewide now pay the average price of $3.18 for one gallon of regular unleaded gasoline; that is four cents less than last week, seven cents less than a month ago, and $1.18 more than at this same time last year.

It now costs $47.70 to fill up a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that’s $10.80 more than what motorists paid in January of 2020, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.46 per gallon.

Montrae Waiters, a spokeswoman for AAA, indicates, “Georgians caught a slight break at the pump for the past few weeks, but are unsure how long this trend will last. Unfortunately, we don’t know if concerns of the COVID-19 Omicron variant will continue to push oil and gas prices lower for the rest of the month.”

Sunday’s national average of $3.35 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is four cents less than a week ago, seven cents less than a month ago, and $1.19 more than at this same time last year.
