SALVATION ARMY OF ROME IS ON THE HOMESTRETCH TOWARDS MAKING CHRISTMAS MERRY AND BRIGHT FOR LOCAL FAMILIES

The Salvation Army of Rome is now on the homestretch towards making this Christmas merry and bright for families who are in need around Floyd, Polk, and Chattooga Counties.

Finishing touches are being placed on the 2021 Angel Tree program, whereby children and families are gifted with new toys and clothing for the holidays. Distribution is set for this Thursday, according to Captain Paula Blevins, who adds that over 400 ‘angels’ will be served this year, thanks to the generosity of donors.

Monetary donations are still requested for the Angel Tree program, indicates Captain Blevins. For more information, call (706) 291-4745.

Contributions are additionally sought for annual Red Kettle campaign, either in person or at www.salvationarmygeorgia.org/rome. The theme for the 2021 Virtual Red Kettle campaign is ‘Hope Marches On’, according to Captain Tim Blevins. All of the proceeds will support services provided to the community by the non-profit year-round.

Volunteer opportunities remain available to those who would like to serve as a bell ringer for the Red Kettle campaign in front of local stores through this Christmas Eve at 2 pm, says Captain Paula Blevins.

The Salvation Army of Rome announced earlier on this week that it recently received a $13,500 grant from the International Paper Foundation. The funds will go towards the non-profit organization’s community-wide evening meals offered throughout the year.
