AAA: GEORGIA GAS PRICES CONTINUE DOWNWARD TREND

Georgia’s gas prices declined again during the past week, according to AAA, The Auto Club Group. Motorists across the state now pay the average price of $3.12 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline. That’s two cents less than a week ago, 12 cents less than last month, and $1.08 more than at this time last year.

It now costs $46.80 to fill up a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that is $9.90 more than what motorists paid in January of 2020, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.46 per gallon.

Montrae Waiters, a spokeswoman for AAA, indicates, “Pump prices continue their descent, despite a slight rebound in oil prices due to waning fears of a global slowdown caused by the COVID-19 omicron variant. But its impact on pricing appears to be fading, so it remains to be seen if oil prices stabilize or move higher before Christmas.”

Sunday’s national average of $3.30 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is two cents less than a week ago, 11 cents less than last month, and $1.09 more than at this same time last year.
