Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said that Rome recorded an all-time low unemployment rate of 2 percent, down four-tenths of a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was 4.5 percent.
“We are seeing the highest number of employed Georgians in our state’s history,” said Commissioner Mark Butler. “Looking towards the new year, our focus is on attracting more people to join the workforce in 2022.”
The labor force increased in Rome by 22 and ended the month with 43,748. That number is up 91 when compared to November of 2020.
Rome finished the month with 42,877 employed residents. That number increased by 212 over the month and is up by 1,200 when compared to the same time a year ago.
Rome ended November with 41,500 jobs. That number increased by 300 from October to November and increased by 1,100 when compared to this time last year.
The number of unemployment claims went down by 49 percent in Rome in November. When compared to last November, claims were down by about 88 percent.
Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed about 408 active job postings in Rome for November.
Butler additionally said that all 12 regional commissions in the state recorded all-time low unemployment rates.
The labor force saw an increase in Atlanta Regional Commission, Coastal GA, GA Mountains, Middle GA, Northeast GA, Northwest GA, and Three Rivers.
Employment was up in all GA regional commissions.
Northwest Georgia Regional Commission – Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Fannin, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Haralson, Murray, Paulding, Pickens, Polk, Walker, and Whitfield counties.
- The November preliminary unemployment rate was down two-tenths to 1.9 percent o-t-m, the rate was 4.2 percent one year ago.
- The labor force was up 627 o-t-m and up 5,711 o-t-y, to 424,547.
- The number of employed was up 1,654 o-t-m and up 15,223 o-t-y, to 416,555.
- The number of employed was an all-time high.
- Initial claims were down 392 (-26%) o-t-m and down 7,385 (-87%) o-t-y, to 1,147.
- Initial claims were down o-t-m in Manufacturing and Construction, and down o-t-y in Manufacturing and Accommodation and Food Services.
- There were 3,955 jobs posted on Employ Georgia.
