LOCALS RECEIVE TASTY GIFT THIS CHRISTMAS WITH RECENT ANNOUNCEMENT THAT THE VARSITY IS COMING TO ROME

Locals received a tasty gift this Christmas with the recent announcement that The Varsity is coming to Rome.

Agents Craig McDaniel and Bill Temple with Toles, Temple, and Wright Real Estate have worked for quite a while to bring the popular fast food restaurant to town. It will replace the Dairy Queen, 879 Spider Webb Drive. The Dairy Queen is open for the time being, indicates McDaniel, who encourages locals to support that restaurant until it closes.

The property is slated to close in mid to late February. McDaniel hopes that The Varsity will open its doors in Rome by late 2022, possibly early ’23.

The Varsity has been owned and operated by the Gordy family since 1928. McDaniel says that it has been a pleasure to work with that family.

McDaniel recalls that the first time he ever visited The Varsity was en route to a Georgia Tech football game in Atlanta. He attests that he has been back many times since then and expects that he will never tire of The Varsity when it comes to Rome.

And when he is asked “what’ll ya have?”, McDaniel indicates that he usually opts for two chili dogs, onion rings, a diet coke, and maybe a fried pie.
