AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES ROSE SLIGHTLY OVER THE PAST WEEK

Georgia’s gas prices rose slightly over the past week, according to AAA, The Auto Club Group. Motorists statewide now pay an average price of $3.13 per gallon of regular unleaded; that is two cents more than a week ago, two cents more than last month, and 89 cents more than this time last year.

It now costs $46.95 to fill up a 15-gallon tank of gasoline.

Montrae Waiters, AAA spokesperson, states, “In the past few weeks, we have seen the price for a barrel of oil work its way from the mid-$60s to over $80 a barrel. Since the price of oil accounts for roughly half of what consumers pay at the pump, higher oil costs will likely result in higher gasoline costs for Georgians.”

Rome is among the least expensive metro markets in the state at an average of $3.01 a gallon.

Sunday’s national average of $3.32 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is two cents more than a week ago, three cents more a month ago, and 92 cents more than at this time last year.
