(Media release from Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation):
Local skaters can be happy, although they need to find a new skating location for now. The Etowah Park skate park is closed as of Monday, Jan. 24 to begin renovations. The renovations are part of a 2017 SPLOST project and will take several weeks to complete depending on the weather.
“We’re excited about the renovations and improvements to the skate park,” RFPRA Director Todd Wofford says. “We were able to incorporate several ideas and concepts from our community meetings, and I think the finished project will be a big upgrade over the current park.”
The project includes a key partnership with Georgia Ready Mixed Concrete Association which is donating more than $18,000 in concrete for the project, leaving the $150,000 in SPLOST money to go to the park design, equipment and installation.
