COVID-19 DAILY STATUS REPORT, VACCINE DASHBOARD UPDATE FROM GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH; ROME CITY SCHOOLS TRANSITION BACK TO PHASE ONE OF COVID-19 PLAN

A total of 3,512 new cases of coronavirus and 167 more virus-related deaths were reported in Georgia on Wednesday by this state’s Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 1,883,693 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide since the beginning of this pandemic. The state’s death toll now stands at 28,358. The number of confirmed cases totaled 22,556 in Floyd County, which has additionally had a total of 366 fatalities. Fulton County has had the most confirmed cases in this state with 179,460 and the most deaths with 1,849.

As of the Wednesday update to the vaccine dashboard, 14,185,754 vaccines have been administered statewide; 62 percent of all Georgians have received at least one dose, while 55 percent have been fully vaccinated. Among fully vaccinated Georgians, 38 percent have had an additional dose; 21 percent of residents statewide have had the booster.

All of the Rome City Schools will transition back to Phase One of the system COVID-19 plan, effective today. According to an RCS media release –

On Wednesday, February 9, Superintendent Louis Byars announced that all RomeCity Schools will transition back to phase one of the system’s COVID-19 three-phase plan.

The transition back to phase one will begin February 10, 2022.

During phase one, all faculty, staff and students on campus will follow the phase one protocol:

-RCS highly recommends that faculty, staff, and students wear a mask, however, it is not required.

Individual schools will communicate any additional details.

All Rome City Schools campuses will remain in phase one of the plan until otherwise noted. The system will communicate with parents, students, faculty, and staff with any changes.

Federal guidelines require all passengers, drivers, and monitors to wear masks while on a school bus.

RCS will continue to evaluate updates and provide guidance.
