NORTHWEST GEORGIA CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN RED CROSS IS GEARING UP FOR RED CROSS MONTH OBSERVANCE IN MARCH

American Red Cross Month will be observed in March. Chapters across the nation will spend next month providing education to the public about the Red Cross mission, as well as celebrating volunteers and donors.

Carla Maton, Executive Director of the Northwest Georgia chapter, says that President Franklin D. Roosevelt first declared March as American Red Cross Month back in 1943. It has been observed ever since then.

Maton has received confirmation that the Rome City Commission will issue a proclamation for Red Cross during their March 14th meeting.

An Open House will take place over at the chapter’s Rome office at 112 John Maddox Drive on St. Patrick’s Day, Thursday, March 17th from 4 pm to 6 pm; Maton invites the public to attend.

And mark your calendar for Wednesday, March 23rd – that will be Red Cross Giving Day. Donations are requested and would be greatly appreciated, says Maton.

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors, according to its mission statement. The organization provides disaster relief, blood services, and support to military families. Get more information online at www.redcross.org.
