COOSA RIVER BASIN INITIATIVE LOOKS FORWARD TO HITTING THE WATER THIS SUMMER, SEEKS NEW MEMBERS AND INTERNS

Amid the Spring-like weather conditions we have experienced in Northwest Georgia during the past few days, the Coosa River Basin Initiative is eager to get back on the water. Jesse Demonbreun-Chapman, its Executive Director, urges the public to be on the alert for the CRBI’s slate of paddle trips on local waterways for 2022, coming soon.

The CRBI has spent the past couple of months working with state legislators on issues related to cleaner water. Demonbreun-Chapman says that a gradual lifting of COVID-19 restrictions has made that easier.

Demonbreun-Chapman adds that new members are always sought to join the Coosa River Basin Initiative, a 501c3 grassroots environmental organization with a mission to protect, preserve, and restore the Upper Coosa River basin, one of the most biologically diverse river systems in North America. Details are available at www.coosa.org and via social media.

Interns are additionally sought by the CRBI to assist with the ’22 Swim Guide during the summer. The Swim Guide is a weekly bacteriological monitoring program that determines whether or not popular recreation areas in the basin are safe to swim.
