FLOYD COUNTY SCHOOLS ANNOUNCES NEW PRINCIPAL OF COOSA MIDDLE SCHOOL

Effective July 1, 2022, Gordon Scoggins will officially become the principal of Coosa Middle School (CMS). Currently, he serves as an assistant principal at CMS and has been with Floyd County Schools (FCS) for 15 years, collectively, as a teacher and an administrator.

“I am honored and excited to be named principal of Coosa Middle School and look forward to continuing to build relationships with students, parents, and stakeholders in our community. As a graduate of Coosa High School, I am eager to give back to the community that has given so much to me. I want to thank Dr. White and the Floyd County Board of Education for this opportunity,” said Mr. Scoggins.

Mr. Scoggins is a 1988 graduate of Coosa High School and has 25 years of experience as an educator and administrator in Northwest Georgia, the majority of which has been spent at the middle school level. He also has experience as a school technology coordinator, middle school boys basketball coach, and athletic director. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education from Shorter College, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from West Georgia College, and an Educational Specialist’s degree from Jacksonville State University.

“I am very excited about Gordon Scoggins being named principal at Coosa Middle. He has done an excellent job for us as the assistant principal at Coosa Middle. He has the experience and knowledge to take Coosa Middle to a high level of academic achievement and success,” said FCS superintendent Dr. Glenn White. “Gordon is also a graduate of Coosa High School and he will be committed to the school and the community.”
