RIBBON CUTTING HELD FOR NEW MENTAL HEALTH FACILITY AT THE FLOYD COUNTY JAIL

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office held a ribbon cutting on Thursday for the new mental health facility at the jail funded by the 2017 SPLOST.

Sheriff Dave Roberson says that his office will team with organizations like the Rome chapter of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) to provide services. The facility is centrally located so as to protect inmates and staffers at the jail.

The completion of the facility – and the subsequent ribbon cutting – followed months of shipping delays and back orders, asserts Roberson.

A goal of the new mental health facility at the jail is to prepare those eligible to eventually be released, according to Roberson.

Sheriff Roberson expresses his gratitude towards the voters who approved the SPLOST which made the facility possible.
