FLOYD COUNTY EMA DIRECTOR TIM HERRINGTON: BE WEATHER AWARE!

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to roll into Northwest Georgia this evening into Thursday morning. Tim Herrington, Director of Floyd County’s Emergency Management Agency, encourages all locals to be prepared in the event that there are power outages and/or flooding.

Damaging winds are a possibility with this storm system. A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for 11 am Wednesday until 8 pm on Thursday. Herrington attests that gusty winds can be unpredictable and wreak significant havoc.

Herrington asserts that the Floyd County EMA mobile app is a great resource for severe weather preparedness during the Spring and all through the year. It is available free of charge from Apple’s App Store or Google Play.

Locals are also urged by Herrington to stay updated when severe weather is in the forecast via an NOAA weather radio or any of the weather apps which are now available. Severe weather alerts are also relayed via Floyd County’s CodeRED emergency notification system, for which registration is available online at www.floydcountyga.gov.
