THREE RIVERS SINGERS TO PRESENT ‘CHOOSE SOMETHING LIKE A STAR’ ON APRIL 23RD

(Media release from The Three Rivers Singers):

On April 23rd, 2022, at 4 PM, The Three Rivers Singers will present “Choose Something Like a Star”.

The concert is (the following quote is from Len Willingham’s letter to the singers) “inspired by the Robert Frost poem and the Randall Thompson setting of ‘Frostiana’. I have built the program around the thinking in the Romantic Era how poetry and music began to merge in ways that still impact us today. The idea that ‘composers [then and now] find musical resonance in the poetry of the day and transformed it into song’ set me thinking about poets like Robert Frost, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Langston Hughes, Paul Simon, and Leonard Cohen. These along with others, whose poems have inspired composers today to craft music that ‘could intensify the poetry through the sounds that mere words could not express,’ served to inspire me to put together our program for the spring.”

The concert will take place at First Baptist Church of Rome. There is no charge, but donations are appreciated.
