Rain on Tuesday and Wednesday is being followed by sunshine and cooler temperatures to wrap up this week and enter the weekend for Greater Rome. And watch out for some patchy frost that has been predicted by the National Weather Service for Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Keith Mickler, University of Georgia Extension agent for Floyd County, says that the last frost of the year typically occurs around mid-April in this area.
Mickler encourages local gardeners to protect their plants, such as tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants.
And about all that rain we’ve had recently? The amount of rainfall is indeed currently above average for this time of year in Rome, asserts Mickler, who adds that the suplus can easily be erased if we enter long periods without any rain.
