ATLANTA BRAVES DROP 2022 REGULAR SEASON OPENER TO CINCINNATI REDS

The Atlanta Braves dropped their ’22 regular season opener to the Cincinnati Reds 6-3 on Thursday night in the opener of a four game set at Truist Park in Atlanta, which put a damper on Atlanta’s celebration of their ’21 World Series victory.

The Reds were powered by a three-run homer off the bat of Brandon Drury in the top of the sixth inning.

Austin Riley had a two-run homer for the Braves in the bottom of the eighth.

Max Fried took the loss for Atlanta after surrendering five runs and eight hits, walking one, and striking out five in five and two-third innings. Tyler Mahle got the win and Tony Santillan picked up the save for Cincinnati.

The Braves and the Reds will meet again this evening at 7:20 pm. The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; air time is 6:05 pm from the Braves Radio Network.
