ATLANTA BRAVES DROP FINALE OF THEIR SEASON-OPENING HOMESTAND TO WASHINGTON NATIONALS, ON TO SAN DIEGO; ROME BRAVES VICTORIOUS ON WORLD SERIES WEDNESDAY

The Atlanta Braves dropped the finale of their seven-game, season-opening homestand by a final score of 3-1 to the Washington Nationals on Wednesday afternoon in the last outing of a three game National League East set at Truist Park. It resulted in a total of three wins and four losses for the Braves during this homestand.

Atlanta’s lone run of the day was scored on a solo home run by Austin Riley in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Max Fried was charged with the loss for Atlanta after surrendering three runs (two earned) and seven hits, walking none, and striking out four in five and a third innings. Josiah Gray picked up the win and Tanner Rainey got the save for Washington.

The Braves begin a seven-game road trip out west this evening with the first of four games in San Diego, California against the Padres. The first pitch is set for 8:10 pm Eastern. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM; air time is 6:55 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves were victorious on World Series Wednesday by a final score of 8-1 over the Hudson Valley Renegades over at AdventHealth Stadium. The festivities included an appearance by the Atlanta Braves’ World Champions Trophy Tour. Rome Braves staffers received their 2021 World Series Championship rings. The six-game series between Rome and Hudson Valley is now even at 1-1. Game three is slated for this evening at 7 pm.
