ATLANTA BRAVES DROP SERIES FINALE OUT IN LA TO DODGERS, ROME BRAVES VICTORIOUS IN BOWLING GREEN, KY OVER HOT RODS

The Atlanta Braves closed out a seven game road trip out in California with a loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 on Wednesday afternoon in the finale of a three game set at Dodger Stadium in LA. That allowed the Dodgers to take the series 2-1.

Freddie Freeman got LA on the board with a two run homer versus his former team off Charlie Morton in the bottom of the first inning; that was his second home run of the series.

Edwin Rios had a solo home run for the Dodgers in the fifth. Tony Gonsolin was credited as the winning pitcher after rendering the Braves scoreless thru six innings.

Atlanta scored its lone run of the day on an RBI double from Marcell Ozuna that brought Matt Olson to home plate in the top of the ninth.

However, the Braves were unable to successfully launch a comeback over the Dodgers, who won by a final score of 5-1.

Charlie Morton took the loss for Atlanta after giving up four runs and six hits, walking three, and striking out four over five and one-third innings.

The Braves finished their road trip with a total of three wins and four losses. They are off today and will get back into action on their home field on Friday night with the first of three NL East outings against the Miami Marlins. First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 pm. In a minor league update, the Rome Braves beat the Bowling Green Hot Rods 8-5 on Wednesday afternoon in game two of a six-game series up in Bowling Green, KY. That evened the series at a game apiece. Game three is slated for tonight at 7:35 pm.
