ATLANTA BRAVES FALL IN EXTRA INNINGS TO CHICAGO CUBS; ROME BRAVES DROP EDUCATION DAY GAME TO GREENSBORO, CROSS RESIGNS AS GM

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Chicago Cubs 6-3 in 10 innings on Wednesday night in the middle outing of a three-game set at Truist Park; that evened the series at a game apiece.

Atlanta tied it up at 3-3 on a two-run single from Dansby Swanson during the bottom of the eighth.

But the Cubs surged ahead in the top of the tenth with three runs off of Tyler Matzek, including an RBI double by Wilson Contreras and a two-run homer by Patrick Wisdom. Matzek was charged with the loss. David Robertson got the win and Rowan Wick picked up the save for Chicago.

The Braves will finish their series with the Cubs (and a six-game homestand) this evening at 7:20 pm. Listen locally on the airwaves of WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM; air time is 6:05 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves were defeated by the Greensboro Grasshoppers 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon in an Education Day game over at AdventHealth Stadium. The six-game series among those teams is now even at 1-1. Game three is scheduled for tonight at 7 pm.

And in other news from the Rome Braves, David Cross has resigned his post of General Manager; he has reportedly returned to Virginia to be with family.
