ARCIA LIFTS ATLANTA BRAVES TO WALK-OFF WIN OVER BOSTON RED SOX, ROME BRAVES TAKE 2-0 LEAD IN SERIES VS. WINSTON-SALEM DASH

The Atlanta Braves posted a walk-off win over the Boston Red Sox by 5-3 on Wednesday evening in the finale of a two-game interleague set at Truist Park, which resulted in a 1-1 split in the series. That marked the Braves first walk-off victory of the year.

Orlando Arcia was the hero of the night with a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Arcia also reached home plate on a two-run bomb by Travis Demeritte in the Braves’ three-run third. Matt Olson hit an RBI double which scored Dansby Swanson to tie the ballgame at 3-3 in that inning. Boston had taken an early lead off Ian Anderson on a two-run homer by Trevor Story in the second and an RBI single by JD Martinez in the third.

Atlanta closing pitcher Kenley Jansen got the win in relief. Ryan Brasier was charged with the loss for Boston.

The Braves are off tonight and will return to action this Friday night with the first of three National League outings versus the San Diego Padres in Atlanta. First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM; air time is 6:05 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves blanked the Winston-Salem Dash by 3-0 on Wednesday night at AdventHealth Stadium. That allowed Rome to take a 2-0 lead in the six-game series between those teams. Game three is set for tonight at 7 pm.
