ATLANTA BRAVES PLAY HOST TO THE SAN DIEGO PADRES IN A WEEKEND SET AT TRUIST PARK, ROME BRAVES NAB WALK-OFF WIN OVER WINSTON-SALEM DASH

The Atlanta Braves had a scheduled off-day Thursday and will get back into action this evening with the first of three National League games versus the San Diego Padres at Truist Park. Max Fried will serve as starting pitcher for Atlanta, while Yu Darvish will head to the mound for San Diego. First pitch is set for 7:20 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; air time is 6:05 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.

The Braves are in the midst of an eight game homestand that has so far netted three wins and two losses. They nabbed their first walk-off win of the season on Wednesday evening by a final score of 5-3 over the Boston Red Sox in the finale of a two-game interleague series down in Atlanta. Orlando Arcia lifted the Braves to victory with a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning. He had a total of three hits on the night.

Atlanta is now 15-17 overall on the ’22 season and tied with Philadelphia for second place in the NL East, six and a half games behind the division-leading New York Mets. San Diego is 20-12 and in second place of the NL West, just a game behind the LA Dodgers. Tonight’s outing will be the fifth of the year between the Braves and the Padres; their season series is even at two games a piece.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves posted a walk-off victory over the Winston-Salem Dash by 3-2 on Thursday evening at AdventHealth Stadium. The home team secured that win on a two-run homer by Landon Stephens in the bottom of the ninth inning. They now lead the six-game set between those teams by 3-0. Game four is scheduled for tonight at 7 pm.
